The process of story idea to distribution:
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS: Meet to discuss the overall story ideas and what you want to bring to audiences. Draft a list of storytellers to appear on camera and identify key life landmarks and story points to build from. We keep things simple and budget friendly. Once we have captured key interviews, events, gathered archival images and mapped out the story, we are ready for post production to put it all together. Some of the best story moments are those unplanned and usually happen along the way as we are filming over several months as needed. Sometimes the filmling schedule is busy, then drops off for a time as thing unfold and progress. As the director of photography, I handle most video shoots, interviews and events and will bring on additional camera personel as needed. Keeping it simple and streamlined is key as to not need access for large crews at interviews and events. We work with mangers and PR reps for artists and bands to get what we need in a simple small footprint approach that also keeps costs down. However the end result in the finishe product speaks for itself in the awards and 5 star reviews. Most projects take about 8 months to a year to film off and on depending on what is happening with events and interview access. Post prodcution editing can take about 3 months. We know the ins and outs of delivery, mastering, meeting distribution requirements and standards to deliver the final product, hire a PR rep for promotional, find the best fit distributor for streamers, DVD, theatrical of your finished film.
DISTRIBUTION OF YOUR FILM: We have longstanding relationships with distribtors like Janson Media and Freestyle Digital Media that we know and trust. Once the film master and deliverables have been accepted, the distribution team sets out to sell and place the film with as many outlests as possible. THE NETFLIX QUESTION “When will my movie be on Netflix? ” The honest answer is the top streamers are tough to crack these days. They are very very select in what they aquire. That is not to say its not possible and the distribution companies will pitch to Netflix, HBO, Paramount Plus, Hulu and Prime subscription based platforms.
We understand the difference between AVOD, TVOD and SVOD and what the success rate of getting placement is.
Revenue sharing between the story subject and the producer is negotiated as part of the overall deal between the filmaker and the subject.
Music and Storytelling is our passion... but thats not all
Stories of all sizes shapes and kinds are documentary and distribution possible. Sports, History, Travel, Compelling life events and historical moments.
